The Pistoia mountain area is a territory which is full of natural, cultural and traditional elements: these are treasures for all those people who live there and for those who choose the area as a holiday destination. In this uncontaminated environment it is still possible to see in November the smoke coming from a “metato”, a traditional rural structure where people used to dry large quantities of chestnuts, and the families of shepherds moving their sheep to pastures, while in old mills people produce an extraordinary chestnut flour.
These are country traditions which may risk to die out because of our hectic lives. So, in order to protect these traditions and enhance the Pistoia mountain environment, some agro-wood-rural firms in the area, thanks to the European Community, Tuscan region, Gal Garfagnana, and Leader Plus, decided to unite as to overcome the disadvantages which are connected with any small-scale and fragmentary production, with the economic burden of the distribution and of the promotion of the products coming from the mountain area and the surrounding area.
The association “Consorzio Toscana Delizia”, which is commonly referred to as T.Delizia, is born with the purpose to let people discover our picturesque views and sceneries through the great variety of local products.
