    Marliana

The municipal district of Marliana is situated on a hill covered by thick chestnut woods and overlooks
Tuscan Apennine
the valley of the Vincio and Nievole rivers. This area is mainly covered by woods where it is possible to admire vineyards and olive groves. The richness of the land is also represented by the wood products, such as chestnuts and mushrooms, which have become highly valued ingredients of savory and delicious recipes which can be tasted in the several restaurants in the area. The village still preserves its town layout with the characteristic Church of Saint Niccolo’  that is worth a visit.
Chestnut cake, chestnut fritters, sweet fritters…

The traditional food of Marliana corresponds to Tuscan Apennine food. Its local products are more or less those that grow in the wood: mushrooms and chestnuts.
Olive

Serra Pistoiese.  Serra dates back to 1040 but it is possible that it existed before the year 1000. The town layout is typical because the town is situated along the crest of the mountain, with a main street that connects two old entrance doors which are still part of the old fortified perimeter.  In the bell tower, easily identifiable as the watchtower, the old castle door is open, surmounted by an elegant Medicean coat of arms.
