San Marcello

is located, is considered the most important town of the Pistoia area, because it has been one of the most highly valued and well known summer resorts since the 19th century. The town is situated on a sunny hill, covered with green and luxuriant woods which border the valley of the Lima stream. It is possible to go for relaxing walks in the woods or  to ride horses or mountain bikes. It is also possible to go canoeing and paragliding.

Bardalone

In San Marcello it is also possible to do excursions and walk along old streets and paths, plunging into a charming landscape which is full of natural scents and flavors, tastes and sounds. Many other picturesque places are situated not far from San Marcello Pistoiese, such as the narrow suspension bridge in Mammiano, a long rope bridge hanging in mid-air which connects the two banks of the Lima Stream. The Observatory, from which it is possible to read the starry sky during clear summer nights, is unmissable.

Gavinana

Gavinana
Pleasant place and  charming summer and winter resort, Gavinana once was a fortified castle. The village still preserves the mediaeval layout with its narrow and winding streets which head for the 16th century palace of great architectural value.  Gavinana is popular for the  battle which was fought by the troops of the Florentine Republic, led by Francesco Ferrucci, against the imperial troops on the 3rd of August 1530. In the village center there is an equestrian monument dedicated to the combatant, a lovely fountain with a circular basin and a central obelisk dating back to the  18th century.
